Just two hours by plane from Caracas and located in the heart of the Venezuelan Amazon Forest, CAMANI is an unique camp in its class, located in the midst of miles of virgin forest inhabited by the Piaroa, Maquiritare and Yanomami Indians, among other hospitable aboriginal tribes that will serve as guides for your excursions. Huge lakes, rivers and waterfalls, exotic animals and plants will be your companions during this trip inside the jungle forest which will take you beyond the limits of your imagination.
It would be impossible for a city dweller to enjoy the jungle forest without basic comforts. For this reason, we offer all the finest services at Camp Camani .
From the moment you join us, you will begin to live new and unforgettable experiences. In complete comfort, yet without unnecessary luxury, at Camani we offer you accommodations in Churuatas (Hand made by local Indian Huts), double cabins with private bathrooms, a restaurant with international and local cuisine and a swimming pool.
Note : all roofed areas in the camp have ceiling fans.
Camani Camp has a maximum of 30 guests in 11 Double bungalows a 2 four bed bungalows, all with private bath. The maximum capacity of the Restaurant is for 34 guests as the living and bar area.
Virgin jungle with unique species of birds (bird-watching tours are available all year round), unforgettable natural settings, huge, leafy shade trees, and the most spectacular growth of orchids surround Camp Camani , where you will spend unforgettable, magical days. The adventure begins early in the morning, when you commence your journey going deeply into the mysterious wilderness, hiking through mountains covered with thick vegetation where you can spot animals you have never seen before. You will navigate the Ventuari River by canoe and visit lakes brimming with fish (peacock bass from December through April), where you can see turtles, alligators and playful fresh water dolphins. Continuing your journey, you will travel down channels leading to the Tencua and Cano de Piedra Falls, where you can bath and feel the power, perfume and atmosphere of its virgin waters. Excursions to the missions of Manapiare, Las Mercedes and along the Ventuari River will give you the opportunity to become acquainted with some of the most primitive indigenous cultures.

Peacock Bass fishing: Catch this world-famous game fish in the Ventuari, its connecting rivers and ponds, December through April (request additional information by e-mail). You can also catch Bagre Valenton (250-pound giant catfish) from April through January, as well as little red Caribes (200-gram piranhas) and black Caribes (3-pound black piranhas) all year round.
Bird-Watching: More than 250 species have been recorded in the Camp area by Richard O. Prum (Department of Ornithology, American Museum of Natural History, New York ) and Joseph D. Kaplan (Whitefish Point Bird Observatory, Michigan )

USEFUL TIPS :
No vaccinations are required, though we do advise the anti-malaria vaccine as a precaution.
There are two seasons in the Amazon Forest : Amazon Summer (dry season), from December through May, and Amazon Winter (rainy season), from June through November.
The average temperature is 25° C.
The camp has a private landing field. The nearest airport is Puerto Ayacucho, 50 minutes by plane, where there are several commercial flights available to and from Caracas . There are also direct flights to Camani from other areas in Venezuela .
